Central North Carolina seems to be utterly void of DPs. I have contacted several lfs's and they have been looking, but no dice. It's been nearly 5 weeks. I'm open to suggestions and/or co-miseration.

I would call every store in the phonebook and see if they can order them. I found mine at a store that carries very few live fish and they tell me they can order anything.

You can also order them online, but if you are like me you might not be willing to pay $35 for shipping.

To find our irrubescos we called almost every store in the province. Only one had them in stock and thankfully it was only 1.5hrs away.

I'm not in NC but, my LFS doesn't carry DP either... so I called his supplier.. he can get them. I'd start calling the distributors.. go up one level in the supply chain. If you are not willing to buy online.

I think he meant JP as in Just Playin

When I lived in NC I used to see DPs sometimes at the petsmart in Jacksonville.

I am spoiled to a decent local independent fish store - DPs are not constant, but frequent. F-8s and GSP are similar. SW puffs are pretty standard items there. I get notified by phone if more specialized fish are available. I cannot imagine what I would do without a good local store.

Fintastic in Charlotte has them most of the time. Im heading up there today and will let yah know if they have any in.

Nope, they didnt have any DPs this time. They had SAPs and a really nice looking dogface but no DPs They can allways get you some in if you want them though just give them a call.

*Edit: Ohh they also had a ton of fig8s up there too which was a first for me.

You can usually find them on Aquabid but be prepared to pay shipping on them....

I would have them give you a list of all the puffers that they can get from their suppliers. I got a list today and dwarfs were listed as pygmy from one and gold bb's from another.

And I bought mine as "Pea" puffers. In fact, when I called the store to see if they stocked them she said, "do you mean pea puffers."

Well I found a pair of DP's from a reputable breeder in Georgia. I should be getting them next week. I'm going to set them up in a 10g tank I have (as opposed to the 29). I have an AC50 on the 29 right now (that is fully cycled). I'm going to move that AC50 (and some substrate and decorations) to the 10. I think that should be enough to avoid a mini-cycle.

My next question is, would the AC50 put out too much current for the DPs (even turned all the way down)? I guess if it does, I can always add a sponge to the intake to reduce flow a bit further.

Maybe by this time next week I can post some pics?!
