Hello everyone, im new to this forum. I now have Malawis in my tank, but im thinking about changing my tank to a Colomesus asellus tank. So I want to hold only SAP's in my tank. Now i was wondering how many of them would fit in my tank (47.2 X 11.8 X 19.7)?
I was thinking about 4, but smn told me there could be more of them inside my tank?

Another question: is there some kind of webby where I can find pictures and stuff from their habitat? Because I want to create their natural environment in my tank.

Hi there welcome to the forum

That's about 47.5 gallons, so you may be able to squeeze 4 in there. Keep up with water changes (50% or more a week) and you should be good.

For the tank dense cover in the back and open space in the front is what they like, so they can duck into the cover and swim like crazy in the open area, they like lots of current so acouple high GPH powerheads on one side to simulate a river would be excellent.

Their teeth grow EXTREMELY fast so (I believe) a daily diet of snails and other hard shelled foods is needed, and from what I know you may still have to trim their teeth. Here are some articles for you to read up on. Best of luck!

I panned the camera so you could see how much space they were not using...

They still don't use most of the space that I know of. They keep to their little section most of the time but do venture out once in a while. Unless they are more active at night time (when I'm not watching).

As long as you don't mind the dentistry, a long narrow tank will be perfect for them.

It is one of my favorite puffer videos! It is hilarious the way they go around in circles..and that music just makes me smile!
