Hey everyone,

I did some research, but I'm really crunched for time because I'm moving into my new apartment and need to move my F8 there soon. His tooth is getting bigger and bigger. I bred snails all summer and fed them to him, but it doesn't seem to get smaller where I feel like he is comfortable. Are there any other options I can use besides the clove oil snip?

I have never had this problem, but from what I read..

Crunchy food keep "teeth" ground down, but will not neccesarily put already overgrown teeth in check

Time to trim some teeth!!!

Speaking of not using clove oil---

Some people around here just get the puff in a net, underwater and clip with nail clippers...worth a try if you have got the nerve!

that was done on SAPs though ... very different than an F8. With my 3 SAPs I have done that a total of 9 times

If you can get your hands on it.. get MS-222 It is fairly available in the USA under "finquil" (I think that is how you spell it).

Thanks for the responses thus far. What kind of crunchy foods would you suggest. He still eats normally, I'm just worried it will become a problem in a month or so, so I want to be prepared.

My figure 8 loves Frozen Krill. (Nobody scold me for this) But I have fed him very tiny baby Trumpet snails, mysis and brine shrimp, bloodworms, krill, and the occassional other treats. No issues with teeth so far and hes very fat and healthy. Currently have a 55 gallon tank he will be going into once I get the accessories for it. If you want something more substantial, open up a cockle in shell as they rip the meat out they scrape their teeth on the inside of the shell. They may even pick it up and nibble on the edge.

If his teeth are overgrown, no amount of crunchy foods will make them shorter. Can you post a pic of his smile?

Moving him into my apartment this week, then I'll try, It doesn't look overgrown yet. Just a lot more noticeable in the past month.

Then be sure to keep up with crunchy foods.
