Hi all,
Been wating for my local fish shop to get me a fahaka but i have found one elswhere, my question is this.....they say the PH they are kepping it in is 7.0, my problem is that i live in a hard water area of 8+
im guessing i should get my PH down but can i then slowly raise it back to the original tapwater PH or am i best keeping it at 7.0?

Steady Ph i more important, my tap water Ph is 7.8, dont worry about bringing yours down acclimate him slowly to your Ph and it should be fine.

I never give much thought to pH, as I always thought that puffers adapted easily, and I think they must. Actually I haven't even a clue what mine is in any of my tanks. I used to test for it, but when it got to where I had so many tanks, it became quite a chore to test for it. I only test when I suspect a problem now.

Congratulations on finding your Fahaka. I'd like to find a good home for mine.

My fahaka lives wonderfully in 7.8

My puffer is now in his new home and has been very active, swimming up and down the glass and showing me his teeth/beak. Has even eaten a shrimp to my surprise
I have taken a few pics and done a short video that I will upload shortly.

Give him/her some time, shrimp will be gone be for you know it

Thanks....i am very pleased and picked the biggest of the three they had in the shop in case it did not eat straight away, now all i need to do is pick him/her a name

i hope you find a suitable home for your puffer although looking at your list of fish i would have thought you would be able to keep him in your fish house
