New Puffer - Monotrete Turgidus !

My new puffer just arrived this morning -- Monotrete turgidus. I am very surprised at how big he is, not what I was expecting at all. All the others I've had were all very small when I got them, but this guy is quite large.
Because he was packaged up yesterday and been in transport since then, I am going to leave him be without anything more to stress him. But I will get some pics up to show just how big he is when he's had a chance to settle.
I've temporarily got him in my snail tank (which has been upgraded to a 20-gallon tank, as I used to have them in a 3.5-gallon tank), so I don't know if he will feel like snacking on my snails or not. Hopefully not, but temptation is there I suppose.
Anyway, I'm quite happy to have him (or her, as the case may be) and will have to think of a name for my new big puff.
Photos to follow soon.

Already said this, but I'll say it again:

I ordered him from Wildwood's. Hate the high shipping charge, but decided I'd probably not find one anywhere else. He's so big, I can't get over it.

Yeah I just went up to turn the lights out and he was sitting in front, with tail curled. Tomorrow I'm going to move him to a more hospitable tank. I just hope he will be alright. I tend to be paranoid when I first get a puffer for the first several days, especially anything I've ordered online (and is expensive).
Davew, you really need to talk your wife into letting you have a bigger tank. I think I am going to rehome Obie, my Fahaka, because he keeps doing something and is throwing his pebbles at the tank glass and it freaks my big dog out quite alot.

I'd have thought you'd have had one of them by now. The Fangs is the one that is eluding you the most.

Congratulations!!
I am in love with this species right now..
When you post pics, be sure to have something in the pic to show the size of the puff, I would love to see how big he/she is!

I did have 2 turgidus before. I sold one, and then stupidly sold the other. Just as soon as I sold my last one I could have kicked myself for doing so. And I've been wanting one again since then.
But yes, the Fang's truly is the one puffer eluding me and can't seem to find anywhere. I think if I were to get a Fang's, I'd have to close my eyes to getting any more puffers after that. But I keep hoping that maybe one day I will get one. That Abei that I sold to Davew was traded to me as a Fang's, and the guy swore up and down that that's what it was. In fact, I think it caused a bit of a rift between us because I've not heard from him since. I wasn't being nasty, but clearly it wasn't a Fang's and it was quite plain to see that it was an Abei. Fact is fact.

I will be sure to do that purple. I don't know why I ever sold my other one because he was quite cool. Must have been one of my stupid spells. But this guy truly is quite large, definitely the largest I've seen. I was very surprised when I opened the box and seen the size of him.
Funny thing is, I didn't tell my husband that I ordered him, and I'm going to see how long it takes before he actually notices the new puffer. Should be interesting.

with as many puffers/tanks you have, that could take awhile

Yeah, well I plan on moving some puffers around today, hopefully before he's out of bed (he works nights, so should sleep for awhile) and it will be interesting to see if he notices what's what after it's all done.
When I bought my last Palembang I did the same thing, and the funny thing about that one is that tank is in our downstairs spare room, which has our washer/dryer and a toilet, so we're in and out of there quite a bit, and he didn't notice the Palembang in the tank in there for a long time.

Got puffers moved, and my turgidus is in a nice big tank now. He's been hiding a lot today, but I've just gone and turned the lights off and I can see him swimming around now (I have moonlights on that tank). As I recall, my other turgidus wasn't very active during the day at all, and the only time I'd see him active was either very early in the morning or late at night.
I'd like to hope that this one becomes a bit more active ... but we will see what develops.
I'm going to try for some photos tomorrow to post, so everyone can see my new big puff. Still thinking on a name for him (or her, but I think to make things easier, I shall think of this puff as a "him").
