I wish him the best of luck. It seems like he really enjoys the race.

Yeah, he really takes that racing so seriously. See how intent he is on winning? It always amazes me hoe focused he looks! He does a lot more sports than just racing & is actually better at those, as all he has to use is his nose & prey instinct. He's a really great hunter!

I like those action shots. Just out of curiosity, how old is Kalvin?

He's 6 now & competing in Veterans, which means against 6-9 year old dogs.

Didn't think a 9-yr old dog would be doing such things, although I suppose it would help to keep them young. My pugs are too hard-headed to do anything other than beg for food.

What are the frills around their necks for? Identification during the race?
Also: nice arm!

Yes, so the judge can pick what order the furry blurs are, running by her.

That is just the veterans. We also have Super Seniors, who are 10+. They also all compete in all the same events (less jumps & set lower).

I think that's very cool. Is it just Jack Russell Terriers, or other breeds too?

I entered my dog Harvey, a Staffordshire Bull Terrier in a terrier racing competition (just for fun) It was the funniest thing I have ever watched - I actually cried! He didn't really know what he was doing, so he just ran & ran & made up for his lack of knowledge, with enthusiasm!

My hair's in a ponytail. That pic's about 5 years old. Any smaller terrier is welcome to join in the fun!

Well... it seems the gal with the Canadian National Champion dog, also decided to move her dog to Veterans. So Kal came in 2nd for all 4 races.
Total for the weekend: 2 Champion ribbons, 4 1st place, 4 2nd place, 3 3rd place, 1 4th place & 1 5th place.
