will algea killer affect my figure 8s in any way i sent a email to the company that makes it and they havent responded yet. i wont put it in till i know what it will do to them and the anablep.

I wouldnt use chemicals to kill algea.

More then likely it is caused from to much light and/or to much food. Id try to lessen the light or feedings to get rid of the algae before going chemicals. My 10G snail breeding tank was covered in algae, but now I have lowered the blinds on the window it is in front of and the algae is all gone.

it is not by any windows its there and it aint going anywhere. i scrape it off the glass all the time but its all over my plants and everything else. ive seen alot about algae on this forum just thought id see if algaecide would be detrimental to their health or not.

check what kind of algae and we may be able to determine a remedy. 99% of the time it is a light nutrient imbalance.

im not so good on my different types of algae lol........its brown and when its there long enough it turns green and impossible to get off

The answer is yes, algaecides are detrimental to your tank & it's inhabitants. You have to find the nutrient source & turn down the lights.

For the sake of your puffers, I would not put any sort of chemicals in the water.

I only run my lights for 8 hours a day
