Instead of feeding my puffer snails to wear down his teeth can I feed him clams and ghost shrimp? Also when acclimating him to a brackish water tank should I slowly increase the SG each week or can I just dump him into a fully brackish tank right from the store (store sells them in FW). Thanks.

I thought all you had was a 10g? Clams broken open or smashed will help, since he has to scrape the shell, to get the meat out. Be sure to freeze 1st & then rinse when thawed.

Nope, I upgraded to a 55 gallon. How about the acclimation process and ghost shrimp?

Cycle the tank at FW, since that's what the puffer is in now. Ghost shrimp need to be gut-loaded before fed to your puffer or they have little nutrition.

dwarf puffers of course :O) the five new babies i got the other day are very responsive, coming to the front of the tank when i show up ... they do spend time swimming around in the plants so not visible 24/7 but definitely active ... they keep following the bigger ones around which is very cute ... and you can get them to eat right off the giant tweezers :O) and so much easier than a figure 8 which will require snails otherwise the teeth keep on growing which is not like that for the dwarf ones ..
