I want to put together a little post to record how we've put together our F8 tank. If I don't record it somewhere I'll lose whatever records and forget what we've done.

The tank is a 16gal bowfront. We have approximately an inch of some white Bahama sand. It's pretty and fine grained. We also have approximately 18lbs of rock. The rock is set up in a bit of a wall with swimming space behind it. It's quite stable and shouldn't tip over or fall apart. I've been shaking it and it's not shifting. Under the rock and sand we have a half inch of foam to protect the glass. A local reefer helped us set up the rock and sold it and the sand to us. I then added in some fake corals. Not sure on their final placement but I think it looks pretty good...

Very cool! I also have a 16 gallon and I love the design. I love how it looks like an old fashioned TV with a curved screen with tons of glare.

Tons of glare is right I have to close all the curtains to take these pictures of the tank.

Errr... I changed the layout of the corals. I think I like this one better but we may need another one for the empty spot...

Instead of white tape, get some black, electrician tape and run it all the way up the sides. It looks like a rim then. Do you know what I mean? Go straight up the length of the tamk, one side on the back, one side on the other plane. Viola. Like the rocks too. And coral.

We might have to, that's a good idea. Right now we've got masking tape holding the background on straight. It wasn't staying since it's been curled up for so long. Hopefully it won't last long

Get some Seaview to stick the background on. Its the same backing paper that I have & the seaview really makes it come alive.

That's with Seaview It's desire to curl back up is stronger than the Seaview

Ha ha. In that case, its curliness will probably settle & you will be able to get rid of the tape. Seaview is good stuff though!

Your tank is looking good Flutter, can't wait to see it with water in it, and the puffer of course too!

Trust me, it looks a lot worse with water Maybe in a few days... Tank is almost full and pretty cloudy. We removed all the corals so they don't get covered with dust (since they'll need to be removed to be cleaned anyways).

I liked your 1st rock design better.

Me too but some of the corals kept falling down I couldn't keep them there without gluing them and I don't want to do that. We got one more so I'll see how I can combine them all with water in the tank.

Everything in my tank is glued, or it winds up in the sand bed.
