snail issues

my gsp hasnt had any snails yet.obviously here in michigan there a hidden treasure.i was up at meijers,kind of like a walmart,they had a over abundance of these little snails im like sweet.well they cant sell them,and they cant give them away ???kind of getting flustered trying to get a snail these people at the lfs look at me like im crazy,ill pay for them!do inned to get them or is there other food that would work in a snails place?puff likes to eat out of my fingers hes not to much into looking for food.any ideas on the snailess diet ?

There are no "pest" snails in their planted tanks? There are plenty of crunchy foods to offer your puffer. See the feeding article in our Library.

I live in MI as well, if you go to smaller pet/aquarium store they will sell or give them to you. Have you tried going to a Petco? They gave us free snails ALL the time before we started breeding our own. Good luck w/ people @ Meijer...they very rarely know what they've got going on in their tanks!!

What city do you live in in Michigan. I also live in MI too. I could give some snails to start a breeding tank or I would recommend keys pets on 23 mile and van dyke or algonac pet store out by 23 n Jefferson area. Thos two places usually sell snails and helped me to start my breeder tank. But if they're out I would be able to give you some pond snails to start your own population. I live in macomb twp if that's anywhere near u? Pm me or just holla back here
