So, I went to LFS today, and the 120gal they had for sale for 300 had been sold Kinda broke my heart, as I expressed interest in buying it this upcoming Monday once I had my next paycheck... I guess someone else had cash now rather than later.

Alas, I came home and diligently scoured CL, in all nearby areas. Nothing at a comparable price.

Then, Lo and Behold, I saw it. 2 hours away from me, a 120 gallon tank (24x24x48) 120 gallon tank; fully loaded with 2 filters, lights, glass top, plus a stand - $200. I called, and he said he's going to hold it for me - and I have arrangements to pick it up NEXT Wednesday!!! (Aug 4th). It'll fit perfectly in the space where the Love Seat is right now... as it's a 52" long space.

Patience was definitely worth it, and looking further than the immediate area was also worth it! I'm gettin my tank next Wed!!!!! Woo! I think BF is a bit miffy about it yet, but at that price - Once I get it here he can have all my money after that. IDC! I'll have my tank finally! (Pic Attached! It's from Christmas '09 when they had it setup - he said he has a pond out back he now calls his 'tank' and no longer needs this one. He got it last year, so it's like brand new!)

Haha I hate that love seat. It's a second hand couch that was treated pretty rough. One arm has no fluff left, and one cushion was mistreated and badly misshapen now. It's terribly uncomfortable... And we don't have company over... really ever... so no need for it IMO. I've been trying to get rid of it forever. It's matching couch is in really good shape, and if you sit on it, you pretty much pass out (too comfortable!)

This will allow us to have the tank in the living room, instead of in the kitchen (however,looking at spec's it might just fit in the kitchen -Just not sure if I want to stick him in the far back corner of the kitchen all alone... In the living room we can enjoy him much better I think... and he wouldn't be doomed to a cubbie hole.

My grandfather has a pickup truck, and I'm going to be taking a few blankets... the tank is currently tore down and in his storage garage (apparently a mile or so from his home) so, it's empty (he said it has gravel that comes with it - hoping it's not IN the tank, but we'll see. I'll have to pick up some buckets to move the gravel out, and wash my sand in anyways.)

Any tips on moving this tank? I am sure it would fit in the bed of the truck, and we'll have straps to tie down the stand at least... if we put the tank in, padded on bottom, front and back against the front of the bed, slide in the base with padding between it and the tank... and secure it down with straps - do you think that would be enough? I don't want to put undue pressure on the tank, nor risk it getting smashed in any way.

I'll take any helpful hints and tips!

Sorry just read over my post, and had to laugh at my excited redundancy.

Bring lots of clean buckets to put the gravel in. No way will you be able to lift that tank with anything inside. I don't think you realize how heavy this tank alone will weigh! Be sure to rinse that gravel well, before using it. Maybe even add a scoop of Oxyclean to each bucket & stir well, before dumping & rinsing. Same with the tank/filters.

With our 200 cm tank we used 4 people, I rather had 4 man, beacuse i couldnt hold that thing.
Its 12 mm glass, so very heavy.

I say go on the safe side and just bring 4 people to move it.
Better safe than sorry.

When moving it, have extra help an make sure they all know the tank can NOT be twisted or pressure put on the corners. I picked up a 125 several years ago. I know it held water, we emptied it. My bad, we didn't have enough hands. So the guy asked his neighbors to help. Then it turned out that the tank wasn't 60" like he said, which would have fit in my 4runner, it was 72". The guys "made it fit" by putting it in at an angle, then jamming the corner in with the tailgate. Got it home and the seal was completely done
