These are pics of my fahaka's tank. He likes to hide in the cave to the left.

I will post better pics later. My wife is still learning how to work her camera.

Love the tank, hope mine looks that good when i get it

It is a 125 gallon but I am looking into a 150 gallon the is 2 ft deep. It is natural gravel. I will take pics of him in his cave later. He has not even explored the tank yet and I have had him over 1 week. He also stays at the bottom of the tank. I have never even seen him come over 2 inches off the bottom.

Here he is hiding in his cave. I just wish he would come out and explore the tank and do a little window surfing.

It maybe the lack of coverage that is keeping him low and hiding

You could try adding some big poofy silk plants and more caves. I really like the fake mangrove root decorations from Petsmart.

I would add quite a few more decorations and cover and see if that helps. This whole situation really is quite intimidating for the puffers and it looks like you might have a shy or easily scared one.

My fahaka tends to hang around one side of my tank, but tends to explore the whole thing. Thought when he is out exploring he is looking for the snails I dropped in that got by him.

I heard that small puffers can be intimidated by very large tanks .... so that may be the case. I will also say that when Obie was smaller he wouldn't explore much at all, tending to stay in one area of the tank. Now, as he's gotten much bigger he will move all around the tank. I think your guy will explore more when he grows a bit. I would add more plants, as well as a background, to that tank. It's a lovely tank, but looks rather bare to me.

I can't imagine something coming from the great Nile River, being intimidated by a bit tank. Just give him time to adjust to his new surroundings.
