As yall know Im currently fight IP's in Bloat. My question is how long should his belly stay nice and round? His belly was good and round after eating yesterday, woke up today and it was no long round. I just fed him so ill see what his belly looks like when I get home at 130am

When I would feed Peaches around noon, the next day her belly would be normal, not indent at all, not bloated, like she ate acouple snails.

How big is Bloat?

I think the idea is that the belly should stay "rounded" long enough until they digest, but certainly should not go to being sunken in by the next morning. When I feed my puffers in the early evening, their bellies are still nice and rounded by the next morning. If the belly goes too quickly then it might be IP's....maybe.

Thats why its highly recommended that all puffs be treated when first bought. Hope the treatment helps. Good luck

my fahaka is about the same size as yours
i dont give him one big meal a day
i give him 3 small meals spaced out
in the morning, he still has a slight bulge
then it goes flat
but he doesnt look thin

maybe try small meals instead of one big meal
he may digest it better

ive had my fahaka for 2 months now
i havent yet treated him for ips

ive had my gsp for 7months and he hasnt been treated either
hes a good weight, and no sign of ips

it can be a matter of what works for you best and your fahaka!

He is getting treated now, just wasnt sure how his belly should look. Ill get a picture when i get home to compare.

I do one big meal on all of our fish. Generally if I feed in the morning they are very full looking and by night time they look content. The big thing I noticed is they look as full at night when most of the digestion has been done to the next morning. I kind of use this as the judge more than the shorter term. If they can hold a decent belly over night I think that is more indicative of how active the IPs are.

With the SAPs I considered the IP battle to be won when even with fasting they never got the pinched look. In the beginning you'd feed them (each one was eating a full bloodworm cube per meal) within a few hours they'd look pinched again. Once they were healthy they never got the pinched look even after days. Their bellies would go flat but never ever sunken.

a full cube each meal for each SAP? wow! what a difference! I am doing 1 cube for the 3 per day, on odd days and snails on the other days... shrimp once per week.

They are still hunting down suspect shrimp and snails that remain in the tank. Although one still over indulges

I know! It was insane and some days I was feeding twice per day because they were SO thin Eventually I was feeding a single cube for all of them about 5 days/week.

I wish Bloat would eat bloodworms, I wasted money on em. When i put one in he sucks one in and spits it out, and ignores the rest

Well that is what we learn ..

I went to china town .. got crab, squid, and clams for the puffers... did no good. They won't touch it.

Puffers = nutters

I would have never guess one fish could be so damn picky. All other types of fish I have kept would go nuts over what ever I put in the tank didnt matter what it was

See, and that is why you need a shrimp tank. Anything the puffers don't eat gets dumped in there. At least the shrimp will appreciate it and go nuts over it

I just gave my little dumpster puffers some snails in appreciation of their voracious appetites. They eat everything, even yucky things like squid and octopus My dad's on vacation so I raided his fridge and he has scallops in there (they're the size of my fist!) so the puffers get to try scallop tomorrow I love my little garbage cans
