can fish see color?

i use a red bulb at night to cast a shadow on the tanks,the fish dont seem to mind it.is it just light to them or can they tell thats its night time?

they can see color I think my fish kno its bed time when the moon lights come on

I believe they can see colour - mine hate it when I wear a red t-shirt, & stay at the back of the tank!

I agree! If I wear a certain shirt, (my fahaka is a fasionista it seems, so far he dislikes three shirts of mine!!!) he will spaz out and swim eradically or hide and refuse to come out. He does not like certain colors it seems, so I assume he can see color. If not, I wouldn't know why he'd find certain shades of grey so darn offensive! :)

Many puffers don't like it when the owner wears clothes with the color red.

Fish aren't colorblind. Quite a number of studies show this in detail and with various methods. This topic was very "in" around the year 2000 and a lot of research was done. Just some fast links:

That what I was thinking my self

After some reserch, I was wrong. Fish are not colorblind.
