ok so i've been trying a few ways to get my SAP to eat snails.

today I found the perfect way and it worked.

Take a teaspoon
crush a snail
put it on the teaspoon and lower the spoon into the bottom of the tank so the snail stays on it.

the puffer's curiosity will lead it to the spoon and when they get close enough they'll notice that theres food.

now i bring snails to them on a spoon and drop it in and they eat it no problem!

but why the spoon? And will this work for DPs? And my last question: Is there a better way to crush them? Like I have MTS currently in a breeding tank and I heard they have harder shells so I might need a more efficent way to crush them.

Lol that's a good idea but I'm pretty sure my parents aren't going to let me. They will probably think I'm crazy or something.

It's kinda gross. I bet they wouldn't use it to crack nuts anymore!

Why?? I know that their shells are hard but DPs don't bite down on the shell like most puffer species. Instead they suck the snail out of the shell. So it's not like it's going to harm the beak at the slightest.

LOL yeah they do. Only for Dwarf Puffers though. Also, they don't grow their beaks like all other puffer species. Notice in this video how the DP attempts to attack the underbelly. Intentionally trying to bypass the outer shell.

If you don't want to watch the whole vid...just skip to: 2:16. It is very clearly shown here.
