Ok so I got some more LR into my 10g tank And guess what came on it?? 1 Pistol Shrimp about an inch long, 2 baby red legged hermits, and a very tiny brittle star fish O.o I'm going to be getting 2 20watt 50/50 Coraline bubls for my tank, would that be good enough for the lighting, or could I get away with getting 2 10 watt 50/50 Coraline bulbs?

OMG.. just for the cost of the LR you got a full tank

My LR cost $80 for 10 lbs, we get a deal at our fav LFS Would those lights be ok, which ones would be best for my 10g the 10w or the 20w??

The sea star is only about the size of a pea, but it's moved from one little hole to another so i got a look at it and it has 7 arms and looks like a brittle sea star not sure on what kind yet and the pistol shrimp is kind of a peachy/pink color.

O don't know about the lights because it depends if you are going with coral or not. PP and some others who have SW experience can let you know

Very cool. I purchased a small piece of live rock the other day for five dollars. It was bustling with life. Even more than I thought once I got it home. Two brittle stars, a feather duster, a small anemone and untold amonts of worms and copepods. This is my first salt tank and its ten gallon. I am running a power glow 15 watt 18,000k bulb in mine. Just a single. I tried to run one of the 50/50 coralife bulbs and it refused to stay lit if it ignited at all. I was super pissed after spending $27 for a bulb so I went with the other. You may want to see what the other salt folks recommend. I am having good results so far though. I just want a few basic, easy to care for corals anyway. I put a frag of a large leather coral from my cousin in the tank and its growing like a weed. Have a couple other frags as well. Button polyp, mushroom. No sense spending a ton on corals if they're just gonna die. So far so good.

is it hard to set up a ten gallon slatwater tank? im interested in doing so, if its not immensely hard

2x20watt would be better. You should be able to grow some leathers and kenya tree. It still really not much light. I would look into a 96watt Quad bulb pc fixture if you are going to focus on corals, even if just softies.

I was just gonna get a few corals like, zoas, mushrooms etc. On my 10g its just the hood that came with the tank so it takes 2 screw in bulbs.

Found this really weird looking growth on my LR. It's about 1 1/2 inchs long and is a tanny brown color with little bumps along it, its in the shape of a long tube with alittle tiny hole on the top. I'm not totally sure what it is but im going to try to get a pic up.

Sponge or cucumber. That pistol shrimp might eat your crabs. I'm sure my crab ate my narassus snails and my beautiful cleaner shrimp

Well my camera doesn't take the best pics of the small stuff My hermits are about the size of a marble. I also found 3 feather dusters and I found one zoa on a piece of LR. I did take some tank shots, don't know how to make the pics small enough to post on the forum though, let's see....
