Just out of curiosity, can Ph shock be cured?

I don't know if it can be cured, because it tends to kill fish quite quickly. The fish is unable to adjust the water on the inside of it's body to the water outside of it - causing problems. The term pH shock is kind of generic for osmoregulation; I think it's described here as simply as I could ever describe it.

I think it's a simple case of "an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure."
Proper acclimation can prevent this =)

There is no such thing as "pH shock". It is osmotic shock. Fish do not read external pH and can tolerate quite a range of pH. Osmotic shock is quite a different matter. The sensitivity to such abuse varies with the species and the age of the fish. But it is easily avoided. Never change the fish suddenly from from one type of water to another - make such changes slowly to allow the fish to adapt so long as both conditions are within the fish's safe range. Also never dissolve material directly into tank water housing fishes - pre-dissolve the material and add that solution slowly, watching the fish for any signs of distress.
