can i keep dps in a ten gallon? i think someone told me that on chat but i want more info

get a small 5 gallon tank and set it up for a snail breeding tank. Go to your LFS and get some pondsnail, they will usually give them to you for free cause they are considered a pest snail.

If you cant provide the correct diet, I wouldnt buy the puffs.

I think you will find that dwarf puffers aren't very reliable for eating snails. Also, I would not feed them tubifex worms, they don't have much nutrition and I doubt the DP's would like them. The main food item that most dwarf puffers love is bloodworm. Live bloodworm is great, but frozen is nearly as good. Bloodworm is the last item I dish out when feeding all my puffers and my DP's actually gather at the front of the glass and wait for that particular food, ignoring some of the other food I put in the tank.

But I agree with Jose, keeping puffers is not cheap or easy, and perhaps you should wait until you're older or more able to provide for them. You have to think of what's best for the puffer.

Definately think of the puffs first, you can have 2 in a 10g and here is a shopping list:
Substrate
Decoration (need it to be interesting for these intelligent creatures as they get bored easily and also need to break line of sight to lessen aggression)
Heater
Thermometer
Filter (best to overfiltrate with these messy fish!)
Water test kit
Puffers!
Food
Water conditioner

As to the food, I used to feed my frozen bloodworm and odd snails. The bloodworm lasts aggges but you need to ensure you are able to keep the upkeep and care and food supply.

i have all of those things, excluding the puffers. i have frozen bloodworms for now. but is that the best option?

The best option is a varied diet of good quality foods. Most of us also soak the food in a vit/min supplement prior to feeding.

should i thaw the frozen blood worms before feeding?

yes, the sudden temp change in their bellys can be bad for them
