I just saw these on liveaquaria and they look pretty cool! I have read up and it seems like they are prone to parasites and such. Anyone have any experience with these? Is a 55 gal probably too small for 1 by itself?

Considering they grow to a foot, I'd say it's too small. Very poor success rate in captivity but Myaj has one. I think she deworms it regularly.

Box jellyfish look pretty cool but I'm not gonna get one.

Aww dang I wish I would have gotten a 75 gallon because I think they have the effect of almost looking smaller than a 55 gallon.

I don't know what to put with my GSP for stocking :\ I saw some clownfish today but one kept biting the tails of the others and my GSP is a pansy to other fish right now.

Yes, you'd need a 75 minimum, that's what I have Paris in and I while its okay for stocking/size, she's a VERY active fish and I think she'd love a lot more swimming room!

They are very prone to internal parasites, but it is manageable. Just be sure to have the store show you that the fish IS eating before you buy it.. if its not eating, you can't get the meds into it easily and that's when they die pretty quickly in captivity. If its at least going after life food, if nothing else, it still is healthy enough to have an appetite and you can get the meds into it ASAP.

I still make sure I deworm Paris a couple times a year though.. she never seems to fully purge all of them no matter how hard I try.

Just a quick question for Myaj. I have a 240g FOWLR tank with 55g sump stocked with a dogface puffer,a copperband,a tassle filefish,a one spot foxface, a coris wrasse and a zebra eel. Do you think a spiny box puffer would fit in?

WB, I really couldn't tell you! I'm not familiar enough with saltwater species to know how aggressive/active those are. I can tell you that Paris is terrified of my maroon clownfish, but even though she normally runs from her, she still ocassionally tries to snap her up too!

I can say that Paris is a VERY nervous, jumpy fish, and from what others have said, that seems normal for the species.

I will say this though, with their known issues with parasites, are you REALLY sure you'd want to introduce one to your established tank, even after a Q-tine period??
