Hi I was just wondering if i can use my discus wormer (Kusuri new wormer plus) to worm my Green spotted puffer it says i can on the back but was just seeing what you guys thought.

Absolutely, yes. Soak his food in it.

Yes. It's a very good dewormer too. It's the one I prefer using.

No need to soak the food with this one you measure out for the gallonage of tank , pre mix in some removed tank water and add it to the entire tank.

i used it on my gsp's no problem.

ive not used it on my puffs yet but have done on my comm tanks


ps any one know the effects of this on shrimps and snails?

Wormer plus has a pretty clear warning that it could possibly kill off any snails or shrimp. I ordered this product and had to pick up PraziPro before it got here so I haven't used it on any of my fish yet. I talked to a representative of Wormer though and he had used it on puffers personally with success. The only tip he gave me was to put some in the water so that a puffer might eat the medicine soaked food better. I guess it makes the food taste bad.

I have been having some success with PraziPro I noticed our new GSP passed a decent sized worm the other day, but all the other bowel movements have seemed fairly normal. I guess I'll know more after a few more days of treating and watching to see if he stays full longer.

I have used Wormer Plus without killing any snails, but I wouldn't count on it though.

Certain snails die, certain ones don't. It honestly depends on how they metabolize food, of all things. The stuff definitely works on puffers, and the safe overdose range is so large it makes me a lot more comfortable than many things. Levimisole I tried once... I believe I slightly overdosed by underestimating my volume of rock and sustrate, and the puffers acted like they were being BURNED until I did a 90% water change.

This stuff dissolves very poorly(Notice it makes your tank cloudy for a while - it takes time and a LOT of water to dissolve!), so it won't dissolve into a concentrate like almost any other wormer, it just makes a goopy suspension, which my spitty, messy puffers remove 99% of, and since it's a suspension, it doesn't so much soaking in. It will depend how your fish eats - a gavone of a fish will get a good dose. I had much more luck injecting the suspension into live earthworms with a tiny insulin needle, but that might be going a bit far for most people.

Try adding it to the impeller side of your filter. Don't forget to remove any carbon you may be using.

I generally dump it near the highest flow areas, it looks like curls of smoke in a room. Don't use carbon, just purigen.

Purigen will remove meds too.

interesting, it seemed to work OK, but maybe I will pull it out in the future, it's not really much trouble to do so.

Ok guys, heres just my 2 cents worth.

I have no idea what this medication "wormer" is about but i am assuming that it's for stomach worms.

Just only yesterday i saw this thin long white thing sticking about 5cm out of my puffy's rear.

I am also assuming that that is the stomach worm which most animals have.

It looks dead.

Now, recently my puffy was sick so he was treated to melafix+primafix.
I am assuming that these 2 medication cause the worm to be flush out of his system.

Both of those meds will do nothing against internal or external parasites.
