The family dog had to be put down recently and it really affected the whole family, even me and my sister who no longer live at home. It affected my mum the most as she had just retired and spent the first week attending to poor Henry. Out of the blue my dad surprised her with a pedigree labrador named Barney. He is from a breeder who had been let down 3 times and desperately need to get him homed as he was the last to go. He is gorgeous and thought everyone would appreciate some cute piccys. He will never ever replace Henry just as Henry never replaced Sam our first dog, but Barney will bring joy again and remind us of the good times.

Thanks hon My parents got him Tuesday night, he has already learnt sit, down and paw. Eats like a trooper and only kept my mum up the first night, so adorable and of course that puppy smell....I cant wait for the day to get our own home to get a puppy, for now we have enough on our hands with our babies (the kitkats)

Puppies are sooooo cute, and I especially love the tongue hanging out whilst sleeping (all mine did that)!

How cute! How old is he?

He is just over 8 weeks and he is a weighty boy lol. Has to be carried up and down steps as he has a hernia on his umbilical cord which should hopefully fi itself. Very cudely pup, totally in love lol.

Labrador puppies could possibly be my favorite thing ever! My brother is a lab breeder so every 6 months or so he has 8-12 of those little things running around......they make me happy! He looks good and enjoy

Eight weeks? Isn't that too young to leave the mother? He looks older...

No, 8 weeks is fine. Anything from 6 weeks really - its their best learning stage.

According to every resource I've ever seen, 8wks is the bare minimum, with 12+ being better. At 6wks, the puppy is indeed learning, but from littermates and the mother.

He is a bg puppy bless him and his paws are massive so we think he will take after dad. Im puppy sitting him all day today so expect some snapshots

I'll stick with the 6-8 weeks that 15 years experience in the veterinary field has taught me. We see so many pups that have been taken on at 10-12 weeks, that are scared of a lot of normal household noises/objects because the breeder has not exposed them to anything other than litter mates/mum & puppy crate. All my dogs have been taken on at 7 weeks & are the most well behaved, well socialised, well rounded dogs.
I would never ever choose to take a pup on that was 12 weeks+ - its mostly learned all its behaviours/fear/aggression by then.
