i was cleaning out Abe this morning (3" fahaka)
follows me and the syphon all over tank as usual
i usually feed him something before i do a wc
today i forgot, and he bit my finger
thats me told!!
i couldnt continue with the wc until i had thrown a couple snails up the other end of the tank to get rid of him!
i think hes becoming too tame!!
hand feeding was a bad idea me thinks
it felt like a hamster bite!
wouldnt fancy getting bitten by a fully grown fahaka!

LOLOL ohhh my, oh my....
I often wonder what those little nippers would feel like. I've also pondered the idea of a full grown puffer taking off a finger if they had the chance... I suppose he was just puttin you in your place - he wanted his snack!
Too cute

Can definitely handle a hamster bite, but I'd be afraid that was a playful warning bite - not a real one!

Can't say I've been bitten yet (imagine a mbu bite!!

) but my congo did try to bite me once.
I was fixing the spray bar on his filter, and he bit my finger nail (I have very long nails) made me jump thats for sure!

I bet that would make me jump too, even if it was just my nail!

lol my gsp has often tried to get me when im fiddling with the filter!
my fahaka has no fear whatsoever of anything!
i stroked him and he wasnt frightened at all
i will need to keep an eye on the wee so and so in future

hes soo different from the last one, who hid everytime a person approached the tank
certainly makes you respect them!

LOL at least I know that if i have to make my puffer back off, I just need to go get my ugly pajama top. Maybe I won't throw it out (because he thinks it's hideous and zips away to hide if I have it on) I'll use it when I need to dig in the tank! Toro! Toro!
And here comes one moment in which I begin thinking of renaming my puffer LOL... Hmm... Toro! nah, I like Vicious better LOL

Ah come on now, I think every puffer-keeper needs to be bitten at one time or another. My husband has yet to be bitten, but I've been gotten several times by some of my puffers: twice by the suvattii, twice by the miurus, once by the Ceylon, but thank goodness so far, not by either my Fahaka or Mbu. I can't imagine my Mbu biting me, but I could see Obie biting me, if he got the chance. I try to watch them now when my hands are in the tank, but to be truthful, I've not been bitten in about a year, so maybe their past the biting stage.

You say that jokeingly but one of my buddys who owns a LFS has a 2 foot porcupine puffer and when he cleans the tank he puts on a chainmail sleeve, apparently a while back when he kept the big guy at the store somone lost a good bit of finger.

Actually, I do have Kevlar gloves

I also know they make them in full length sleeves. I got mine from my old work place "just in case" I got a fish that was tough enough to bite me

I would definitely like to invest in something a bit bite proof. I've thought about it often; what my fahaka may do once full grown...
