I still have no idea where Im going with my tank LOL. But I have been kicking around the idea of a brackish tank. Are the Giant Spotted Puffers low or high end brackish. I looked in the pufferpedia and it really didnt say. This would be my first attempt at a brackish tank, how hard are they to care for?

First you have to find them. As far as brackish goes you can go as high or low as you like. I stayed at the lower end. Your choice as there isnt a definitive answer anyone can give you.

thank yall very much for the info. I think I will take on this one. I prefer to have just one larger puffer vs many smaller one's, and my 55 seems like a perfect fit for a GSP. Now to just convert to brackish and locate one. Hopefully my LFS can order one. Will be making some phone calls tomorrow

Oh also what is to high for pH. Mine right now is 8.4 but im thinking of just getting some saltwater from my LFS and swapping out half the tank, so Im sure it will drop. They use RO water

Any realistic PH is a-ok with spotted puffers.

Hard water with lots of carbonates(perhaps this is why full marine is such a good way to keep them) is ideal, but as long as it's relatively high, as it is for you, I don't foresee any worries in this area.

Will you be happy is it's just a GSP? Not only will any store be able to tell the difference, mot of us can't when they are juvies.

I had a conversation with my LFS guy today who got me my last one, he's trying to get me another. They showed up on a stock list and then they were gone before he could get one in.... Typical.

Ok im going on a limb that this next question is going to be a dumb one but what do you mean just a GSP?

Oh and Ive read that I possible could get away with 2 GSP's in my 55? anyone else second that thought

Im pretty sure PP ment "just a green spotted puffer." I wouldnt go with 2 giant spotted puffers in a 55 but i have herd of 2 green spotted puffer in a 55 but i wouldnt do it. I would rather have a green spotted puffer and a tomato clown or something.

Alright now less not confuse me, its easy to do. Lets not bring in anymore puffers lol. I just need to save a few bucks to go to the LFS and get some saltwater and order a giant spotted puffer
