What type of puffer is this?

From the age of 0-13 I lived in Saudi Arabia right on the coast of the red sea. I used to go diving and snorkerling and i used to see this puffer all the time but i have no idea what it is called please could you help. Im back in england now and miss the the puffers but what can you do.

A very uneducated guess: Mappa. Not sure though

I don't know marine species very well, but I do not think it is a Mappa.. I may be wrong, but they do not have the same markings around the eyes.

I agree, that's what made me almost not answer at all. IDK what it could be though, I don't see one in the pedia, I don't think...

That is the largest puffer on earth: Arothron stellatus. Grows to 4 feet. Good thing you didn't take it home with you!

Hi thanks for all the replys.
When i was in Saudi Arabia we had a marine tank with a toby of some kind in it i have pictures.
Now I got 8 dps in a 27g tanks with java fern and java moss. I got another tank which has all sorts in but the puffer one is my fav.

Thos pics dont look anything like the one in my photo. the markings are so small where as the one in my pic are big. I guess each puffer is different

I suppose that at 1 foot, it's only 1/4 of it's full adult size... I wonder how big those start off at, when they are born........ It would be super neat to watch them grow, for sure!
