i just got a dragon goby aka violet goby and i was just wondering if it could live with the gsp?

It seems like some people have success but most don't. The biggest problem you will face is if your puffer is going to eat any other fish that lives with it. If you have a more loving puffer then there are still other things that you are going to have to take into consideration.......bioload, different diets, your gsp hogging all the food leading to over feading, water parameters are all some of the things that you will need consider before putting them together. If I were me i would just keep your gsp alone.

I have to agree with briguy44, I would leave your GSP alone, because from what I know of Dragon Gobies, they are a bit relaxed compared with a GSP, and I think he would end up getting nipped, or worse.

It's not a great combination, no. The thing with GSPs is that they're fin biters, the fins of other species being a natural part of their diet. On top of that, the males are likely territorial. So while some people have peaceful GSPs that work fine in community settings, most people aren't so lucky.

On the whole GSPs are best kept singly, in groups of their own kind, or with damselfish, which seem to be sufficiently punchy the GSPs leave them alone.

I raise Dragons in a species only tank and I have had to emergently place my GSP in with them, it did not go well. In under 4 hours it looked like someone took a paper punch to the back fin on all three of them. Peaceful things like Mollies and some of the other brackish fish play nice with them though. As a reminder, Dragon Gobies can get up to 20 inches long and need a fairly large tank when adults. I have three of them that are all over 12 inches with two of them pushing 16 inches now. All three started off as 1-3 inch juveniles and reached this in about 4 years.

DP seems to do quite well with my F8s.

Dad, do you have pictures posted or in your gallery? I've always been facinated by these guys and would love to see some full sized ones.
