Yah they are a coldwater species that live in shallow waters where eel grass grows(from what i have read so far so correct me if anyone knows better.) They are rather small but i love that tank with the eel and the lumpsucker. It has funny expressions when it first lands on that rock and starts looking around like "ok did anybody see me."

Wow that guy is awesome. I want one. Are they hard to keep? WTB? kinda like a Pleco mouth on a puffer body. Theyre cute.

I have no clue on how hard they are to keep but with them being cold water should make it a little harder to keep the right requirements without a chiller. I would love to have a tank like this one though. I am doing homework well trying to do homework while i look up this little guy. He is awesome and they come in many different colers then this one. Some get a really decent size and others stay small but they are very interactive if you take a look at the youtube videos of the one that was wild caught and they were training him at in a science lab. Ill try to look it back up and post it.

Wow this fish is really awesome. I love the way they look they are halerious looking. I wonder if you can purchase these from a store? If anyone knows let me know I would like to have one of these guys.

At first I thought "What a cool fish!" And when I saw those videos where the fish was brown, I realized that this is a fish we have in the sea here in Norway! I remember my dad getting this in the fish net when I was a little girl. My dad used to release them. I don't know why, because they are supposed to be a delicassy. Their eggs can also be used as caviar. They have an amazing amount of eggs, which is also is reflected in the Norwegian name for them, directly translated as "spawn cookies" (spawn as in the meaning eggs).They are cool fishes. I've never seen any kept in a tank though. It's not common to find Norwegian species in the fish keeping hobby.

Him and the eel looking fish seem extremely animated. They are like living cartoons or some such. Look at the eyes on both of them. Lol. Too funny.

enjoy buying a huge chiller, dealing with the noise, power bill and condensation on the glass.

It would be totaly worth it if you could have a tank full of eel grass with a couple of these and a few eels. I love the look of the tank the pacific one is in. They got it from somewhere so i would assume it can be baught. It will be one of my dream tank lol. There like corvettes you cant afford them untill your to old to enjoy them......... but i think the older i get the more i could enjoy tanks so its a win win lol.

Mek0ng may well be correct that in your area you would need a chiller... not a cheap piece of equipment.

On the other hand... if you went for geothermal heating /cooling of your home, there is no reason why you couldn't tap into that just food for thought

I would want to attempt the chiller as a DIY thing. It will take alot of research but its something i have been thinking of for a while since alot of reef systems use a chiller anyway.

yes, there are a lot of DIY chillers out there made from old fridge / freezer parts Very do-able.
