Just wondering if anyone has tried keeping ppcrabs in the same tank as puffs?
I know, I know! (food )
But I've currently got 10-15 hermits and a fighting conch in the tank with them, and the gsp's seem to leave the hermits alone for the most part. (I made the hermits an underground tunnel/bunker system)
I'm SURE that will change once the puffers can basically fit them in their mouth, and it might with the pp crabs too, but I still have to ask

What kind of puffers do you have? I have a dog faced that leaves my baby hermit crab and nessarius snails alone. but that might change as it gets older

might depend on the puffer, but for the most part if a puffer sees a crab, its food

PP, have you ever looked at your GSP and watch him for a few minutes and randomly he lets sand out of his mouth or gills? like he stores it in there and just lets it go when he wants? i constantly see my GSP just randomly let sand out of his gills after swimming around and looking at me for a minute. i think its on his hunt for my now small supply of nassarius snails that he picks up this sand

I'm planning on a lot of the non-puffer stock to be food after time...
I actually noticed a huge improvement in their attitude after adding all the hermits, like the predatory instinct kicked in and helped them cope with their futile existence... lol

I've never noticed this behavior.

Shakespeare does this - he gets lots of sand in his mouth eating 'pods out of the sandbed, and then when he gets excited and breathes hard, the sand vents out his gill holes in a puff. He also farts sand every now and again.

lol never noticed him fart any sand out but he definitely gets excited and some sand will spill out of his gills. i would be sitting there watching him, putting my finger in the water, i would be there for at least 5 mins and i would see him suddenly drop sand out of his gills. so he stores that stuff away lol
