Has anyone had good experiences with these guys? I was thinking about getting some for my FW tank since I don't want a big messy pleco and I really don't want to get a chinese algae eater because I don't want it attaching to the side of my fish. Any how I was just getting ready to upgrade to a bigger tank for my angels and so I was wondering if 3-4 ottos would be a good addition? i read somewhere that they attached to fishes sides sometimes like the CAE.....is this true?

Many ottos need to go into established tanks as they won't eat prepared foods. Depending on the tank size you might want to look into siamese algae eaters. Have you looked into bristlenoses?

yeah i definitely wouldn't put them in a tank that wasn't established. I know that they are quit sensitive to water quality. I would actually love to get some type of smaller pleco but I really only have access to Petco where I live and they only carry normal plecos and ordering online can get pricey for shipping.

Established with plants and some algae too Sorry, should have mentioned that. Ottos are cute though. Many people don't have a problem but I've heard of quite a few people who get them and they won't eat prepared foods.

Bristlenoses are easily bred in the home aquarium. Is there an aquarium society in your area or even one that isn't really far away? I picked up some baby calico ones recently.

I had a bunch in with my 4 DPs, and they did well, i have one in with my single DP and I can hand feed him algae chips he'll eat right from my hand
I plan on getting a couple more cause they do better in groups But yeah, great little cleaners, they even eat left over blood worms

Always buy ottos with a rounded stomach, not concave.

Two ottos have eaten bloodworms from the cone feeder. And one got eaten by my dwarf puffer!
