1/2 planted tank

So I have a 30 gallon long tank with a irrubesco and I tried having a planted tank for her but somehow only one side of the tank manages to have a good growth while the other side with out the filter is slowly decaying. I tried different food but now on to API plant food and they have the right lighting and enough potassium so what is going on?? Any suggestions on how to have a successful planted tank would be GREAT!

Some members here as well as my self are using fertilizer by the name Yomato Green.

That seems like a water flow issue as opposed to a nutrient issue. Possibly, the plants near the filter are creating a dead zone at the other end?
A) Reposition the filter
B) Add a sweeping power head
C) Add a second filter at the opposite end
B & C will cost a little $$ but A is worth a shot. The problem is, it will take a while to see immediate results without going high tech.

I agree with J-P that it sounds like a flow issue.
Potassium is not the only fert that plants use. Plants require carbon through either CO2 injection, liquid carbon or through the extraction of calcium carbonate (don't dose seperate carbonate as it won't disolve) and CO2 present in the water column. They also require nitrate, phosphate and many other trace elements.
