Is this normal?

Hello,
I recently bought a porcupine puffer about a month ago. He has been doing excellent and eating like a pig. I feed about 1shrimp a day or so depending on if i am feeding the eel. Well last night i tried to feed the eel but the puffer ended up getting to the feeding stick and eating the shrimp. Now today he refused to eat any shrimp and has been just kinda hanging out in the corner of the tank, not acting like his normal self. He always greets me and begs for food, but nothing today. Do they tend to do this after pigging out?
Thank you

I don't own any marine puffers, nor do I have a marine tank, but I will say that some of my puffers will turn their nose up at food if they aren't hungry. I would not worry unless this is repetitive behaviour and your puffer isn't looking well (getting thin, etc.). Give him some time, he may just not have been hungry at that time.

I wouldn't worry if it's just one day. I've given mine a large meal one day and he won't want to look at food the next. I would look into a variety of foods. Look into feeding clams and mussels. Shrimp are good as well. I like soaking my shrimp in vitamins.

Thanks for the quick replies. The puffer is acting like his old self again. I checked last evening and i noticed that he had puffed himself up and then watched him deflate. After that he noticed me and was up in front wagging his tail begging for food

I held off on feeding him though until later today for the normal feeding time.
Thank you

Great to hear that he is back to being his regular self again, excellent news.

Have you read this article?

I've found it very helpful for feeding my puffers. Gives a lot of options that I never would have thought of feeding

I don't remember if it talks about the issues with feeding a lot of or solely shrimp.
