I am doing a 50% WC with City Water. But before I add the new water into my saltwater tank, I wanted to know if it is alright if added the Aqua Safe (makes tap water safe) after I put in the City Water. All that is in the tank is Live Rock half cured/ half curing. No fish yet. And when I have a GSP in there, will I need to treat it before adding to tank?

Do you have a skimmer? If so, I'd avoid aquasafe. It's slimy stuff. Not as bad as stress coat, but not great for salt water.

Then how am i supposed to dechlorinate the water?

Honestly, most salt mixes have plenty of sodium thiosulphate in the mix to do the job on their own. However, I usually use either prime or just plane old API dechloriator.

Stress Coat Marine says it wont make water foam. I havent used it myself so I cant affirm or deny. I had planned to use it when I get my salt tank up and running though.

Have you tried prime? It's a small fraction of the price per gallon.

Add your dechlor as you are mixing the salt overnight.

Okay. I guess I will go buy a 5g tank for premixing the night before. 10% WC should be alright weekly once that Live Rock is thriving well. Just set it up in the cupboard or compartment below then siphon it?

Why not a cheap, 5g bucket? I always keep a lot more mixed SW on hand in a 33g Brute can, for emergency WC.

You can also use an old (clean) cooler...if you do not have a bucket

good idea. I saw some at Wally world for like 4 bucks. I'll have to pick one up this weekend.

I picked up my 5g buckets at Home Depot for like 2.50 ea plus you can get nice snap on lids if you like.

Waterchange water must be heated as close to tank temperature are possible.
