Killer anemone?

Bad news for me today. Yesterday I got smooth talked into a LTA( long tenticle anemone) and I was having issue all yesterday trying to get him to stay put. So I decided to just leave him be and not stress it anymore. Hoping it would bury in the sand next the a peice of live rock. This morning I woke up and found two fish dead right next to it. He killed my yellow tang and one yellow tip damsel fish. And now my maroon clowns seem lathargic. My puffers seem ok thou. Any thing I should be doing. Can anemones release toxins in the wAter??

Anemones do not release toxins but can eat fish. I'm pretty sure clowns are OK with LTAs though. They may have been shocked by the poison but might bounce back. Are you absolutely sure it's a LTA?

Anemones are well capable of chemical warfare. I've never heard of fish being poisoned by it tho i have no experience with anemones. This all happened within a day of adding the anemone? I'd definitely do a quick water change and maybe use carbon. If i were you, i'd setup a QT just to get the fish out if the water is poisoned. Good luck and sorry for your losses.

Yes this all happened in less than 24hrs. WP are great. I just did a 50% WC to hopefully help. Clowns look a tad more active but still lathargic. I added fresh carbon aswell
PP I ask the guy and he said it was a LTA. It purple and it's tentacles are about 2" ATM. It's pretty flat and wide with most of the tenticle around the outside of it's plate shaped mouth.
I'm thinking chemical warfare...but why there's no other nems in the tank at all. Maybe it tumbled and got stung buy other corals and went into attack mode?

that KH reading ... if I am correct 15 ~16 = Gkh (German scale in 5 ml of water .. 10 ml = /2) which is what I use and that is OK.
How are you translating / converting that?
