Hi all, well as you can see by the subject i'm looking for some advice on moving mt tank, it's 25 gal and houses my Topaz puffer and 4 clown fish. oh and a hand full of hermits and turbo snails.

I was thinking of getting a large 40 ltr bucket full of the water from the tank to move them in, as soon as we get to the new house (20 mins away) put their heater/filter in the bucket with them.

What i need to know is will it be ok to leave them in there for around 24 hours so i can fill up the new tank with new conditiond salt water and give it time to reach the correct temp etc?

If I was moving a 20 gal tank, first get some clean coolers split half the tank water between them and put in the fish, put the rest of the water in buckets, drain the filter, then move the tank and set in back up as soon as possible i.e. immediately, using the water in the buckets and new salt water. Do not use the water your fish were transported in.

The ammonia will build up too quickly in a bucket. Since you need to upgrade your tank anyway, now would be a great time to do it!
