I am curious what all everyone is breeding, what they breed together and their tank setup. I want to start breeding now while I have to cycle a 55g tank for my puffers and I am thinking Ramshorn and rcs in a 20g with simple filter/heater. If anyone knows something that grows faster/bigger or more nutritional, whichever you think is best, I would like to know why.

Pond snails, ramshorns, and MTS in a 2.5 gallon, live planted with an aquaclear 30 filter. Ramshorns are doing "eh" pond snails slowly dying out, MTS breeding rampantly in the gravel.

I am unfamiliar with MTS. Could you elaborate please? also for a 2.5g do you have filter/heater/air stone or is it just like a fish bowl?

im breeding pond snails in a 35litre tank, (im no use at gallons!)
has a small filter, heater and lights
couple live plants and cuttlefish and they are breeding well
i find ramshorns just grow bigger in my tank, but dont breed, dunno why?
would like to breed some shrimp..
Do shrimp eat snail eggs?

I don't believe so. I've been told that red Cherry Shrimp and Ramshorn Snails are good to breed together. I'm setting up a 20g to breed them in.

I thought a cuttlebone was those things for birds? pics/links?

its meant to help snails shells from crumbling?
it slowly dissolves into the water adding calcium? me thinks?!
others have it in their tanks as well, can be used for turtles etc..

i thought you werent to feed puffers malaysian trumpet snails cos of the hard shell can break puffer teeth?

okay lol, an actual cuttlebone. I thought it was some weird exotic freshwater fish I never heard of. Sounds good

With 7 tanks & no room, I'm very grateful to have many LFS around here to supply all the live foods i need.

MTS are Malaysian trumpet snails - they have long skinny pointy shells, can live in low brackish, and are Von Neumann machines, giving live berth to tiny clones of themselves without a parter.

Many respected authorities believe the shells, which are almost as tough as the average salt water snail, may chip the beak of a persistent puffer.

My salt water puffer tank pulverizes them however, and my fiancées DP sucks them out of the shells at any size I can fish out for her.

I know someone who's 30g hex tank became overrun with those things so they got a puffer and it was a happy camper. Spent days hunting them and there was more than it could eat. I dont know how its doing now but didn't seem to slow down the puffer any (GSP)
