Ive been thinking about adding a new fish to my F8 tank, do dragon gobys get along with F8 puffers?

I've been thinking the same thing. when i upgrade my tank i planned on a dragon goby, a couple bumble bee gobies and possibly a freshwater flounder which i'm not sure if it can tolerate salt. I've heard of people having F8's and dragon gobies in the same tank with no problems given the right tank size

My F8s have been living with a DG for many years.

The F8s are 3" adults I've had for about 6-7 years.

can you guys give me some tips as far as feeding goes.
ive read that they have poor vision so i feel that the puffers will have an upper hand during feeding. is there anything (methods) to improve food intake by Dgs?

I raise a species only tank of Dragon Gobies and I'm trying to breed them and I really don't trust them with puffers, the flowing fins are just too tempting. I recently had to put my 3 in my GSP tank overnight and they came out looking like the back fins were ravaged by a paper punch...How large of a tank are they going in? Contrary to popular info out there, these guys do get big and really thrive in high brackish to low marine conditions. My biggest one is nearly 18 inchs (6 year old), the next is 15 inches(5 year old) and I have a baby (2 years and I think female) that is only about 8 inches all house together in a 100 gallon. Even in that space they still get in to territorial disputes when they happen to run in to each other (I may have to upgrade).

I know PufferPunk has had great luck with hers but as we all know, every puffer has a different personality. She may be lucky and hers is docile enough and tolerates the goby, you may have one that will tear a goby up. Is it worth the risk?

I never said to keep them with GSPs.

Oh, I know you didn't. I just don't trust the smaller puffers with another fishes fins. Kind of like trusting a frat house to guard a case of beer.

My biggest point on that was the SG that the Dragon Gobies thrive in and the potential size they can get. I don't think the standard 30 gallon tank is near proper size for a fish that has the potential to reach over 18 inches. Like stuffing a Fahaka in a 55 and expecting it to thrive. These guys are scaleless fish also without gill plates and are just as sensitive to water conditions as puffers are (though not nearly as messy).

I have kept my F8's with a dragon goby for about 3-4 years now and have had a couple different DGs, have also kept BBG's with the F8's with absolutely no problems.

i recently stopped buy a LFS to checkout their dragon gobies but they were out for the moment but the had butterfly gobies!!!
i never seen such a fish. they are very unique. would that also be a good match for an F8 tank?

Those are wasp fish, right? Kinda like lion fish but smaller and don't annoyingly swallow everything in sight? They sting just like lion fish, I hear. That's interesting, because lion fish venom spreads by diffusing slowly through your blood, with moments of extraordinary pain and some muscle twitches as it spreads from the sting sight. I got stung by a large lion fish once. The alternating burning and tingling got almost to my elbow before it became too dilute to matter.

I just got a dragon goby & he seems to be doing great with my F8 puffers & bumble bee gobies, however he's quite boisterous & is re-scaping my tank. I have black flourite sand & he is moving that stuff around like nobody's business. I'm afraid he's going to cause a cave collapse, any suggestions?

Waspfish are lovely fish but are ambush predators so very slow to get to the food initially meaning that you have to work hard to make sure they get their share. They'll also only take live food so it's hard to get them a decent diet. They have relatively large fins so if your puffer is a fin nipper the waspfish won't stand a chance. I kept mine in the F8 tank but he died after only 1 - 1 & a 1/2 years, the problem is I have a few theories on why he died but I also suspect that they require a higher salinity system.
