I've heard that some marine snails are too hard for GSP's and maybe all puffers, so exactly which marine sails are okay for my puffer? Can I try to breed them in his tank? Or will he be a pig and try to eat them all at once?

Exactly what sg is your puffer at? Is the 10 gal a QT tank?

He was initially in the 55 gal tank (the pet store swore he was a peaceful fish) but one by one we'd the other inhabitants dead. So we placed him in what was going to be the (10gal) QT tank. He is about 2". The sg is kept around 1.022. I thought about putting a little live rock in there with him too, but figured he'd try to eat everything in/on it.

A 10 Gal tank if far too small for this fish now, let alone at it's full adult size. Also, he shouldn't be at full SG yet at that age. A 30 gal min. is suggested for this guy, and that's not really counting tonnes of LR. Have you read the awesome article on GSP's in the library? It's great resource.

we know he will out grow the tank soon. It isn't a permanent home, just a temporary until we can afford a larger one come tax time! We bought him when he was about 1.5" and he was already in a salt tank. The pet store told us how he started out in fresh, then brackish, and finally salt...but we didn't realize he was put in salt prematurely until later when we read up on him. We know now to get our own info before buying. We buy him a crawfish every week to every other week, but I'd like to find snails that are safe to feed him that I can keep (and possibly breed) in the larger tank.
