Here's the situation.

I have a 120 gallon tank with 4x 1" gsps.
I'm buying the two Giant, full grown GSPs Nick posted about in the classified.
My boyfriend doesn't trust my 60 gallon tank to hold water since there's a small chip in it (it holds water fine. he's just paranoid).
His friend has a 60gallon hex aquarium he's giving us. (boo hex.) Which is obviously not good for long term, and the boyfriend doesn't want more than two tanks running (I have a 29gallon tank with a Brown Puffer too). (if absolutely necessary I'm sure he wouldn't hate me for having a third tank, but I'd rather try to appease him).
I just found a 210gallon tank for $550... I think you see where this is heading.
I don't want to just throw them all in together, haha. But what if I had a divider between the babies and the giants. Would they have to stay divided their entire lives then, or when the babies got bigger would they be able to mingle safely. I guess I know it's a risk, but if they were able to see each other every day for over a year would they have a better chance? I guess I'm just hoping for input/suggestions. And if anyone has any ideas on how to make a removable divider for the 210 gallon tank...

Couldn't you pay for the fish & have them hold them? I don't think combining them is such a good idea, never mind they need to be in QT.

I'd definitely QT them in the 60g first. I'm just trying to think of a way to make my boyfriend happy with the tanks long term, and he's stated he'd feel better about it if they was a way to have them all in one tank.

I found two possible buyers for the 120. So I will most likely be buying the 210.

I thought the GPs do better in low-end BW?

They're full grown GSPs, not GPs- though I guess it's possibly they could be GPs, hard to tell from the pictures but I'd trust Nick's ID of them. I just call them Giants, because they're so big

...I just bought a 200 gallon tank and the dimensions this guy gave are either very wrong or I just bought a 600 gallon tank. @__@

My main concern is "dear enemy"...those two big puffs are getting along fine now....but once you put them in a nice big tank...and they know it is theirs...their territorial tendencies might kick in and divider or not babies might get in the way..

If you skip the divider the babies will be bullied out of food...I learned that the hard way..the bigger puff gets the food LOL...sweet little puppies most of the day, throw in a shrimp and you have got pit bulls

lol. I finally made sense of the guy's dimensions. The tank I'm getting is 245 gallons. I'm picking it up at 5pm
The 60 gallon with the chip in it will be set up as a QT tank for now and I'll figure out how I want to sort the puffers when the time comes.

I just measured my babies, they're all around 1.25" so just over an inch. Them being fed wouldn't really be an issue as I'm compulsively thorough in making sure they all get the exact right amount of food, haha. I think I'll try the divider method after they're QT'd and see how things go. Who knows.

Is that thing set up for a sump as well, just looking at what looks like a white PVC pipe as an overflow drilled into the back. Either way nice tank. Thats gonna look awesome when its set up.

Time to ditch a boyfriend. Hex tanks are cool. And I personally thought those looked like GP's, but what do I know.
P.s. I'll take that hex if you dont want it. Lol.

the puff in that last pic has the body shape of a GP in my opinion....I actually hope they are GPs

that way Zombie can write an article on the differences and we could have pics of confirmed GPs..

aww. So much hate for the boyfriend, lol. He bought me the 120g himself when I broke my 55gallon. He's not against fishtanks, he just doesn't want a million of them :[ ...or more than 1, lol. I actually set up my Brown Puffer tank without telling him, he just happened to look in the back room and there was another puffer tank. lol.

Whether they turn out to be GPs or GSPs I'm still super excited. It is set up for a sump. I think I'll throw my extra 20gallon under there, just for a little extra water volume.

I was planning on keeping my babies at an s.g. of 1.008-1.012 for a while, probably until full grown. And I think GPs would do fine at that s.g. anyway. From what I read they seem to do fine in a large range of s.g.'s
I'm also going to have to try very hard to ignore the urge to buy two more GSPs for the tank, lol.
Boyfriend is very concerned this tank isn't going to fit in the van. uh-oh. Guess we'll find out!

I would if I could, haha. I'm literally completely broke until I sell my 120 gallon tank. I hopefully found a buyer for it though
