MEET MY NEW CHAMELEON!!!!!

i like the idea of naming him after a jungle... but i cant think of any names of jungles that could also double as a name... i also considered naming him hippie (since he changes colors). got any unique name ideas (pls no "leon the chameleon" or "lizzy the lizard") btw, his name is already leon, the people i got him from named him that, and its gotta change lol

whoops it cut his face off a tad... o well, u get the idea. btw, hes shedding a little... hes not sick or anything... just normal shedding

I kinda like the hippie thing but why not name him after a famous hippie lol.

John Lennon, Jim Morrison, Jerry Garcia, Jimi Hendrix, Bob Dylan, and Ravi Shankar, lol and the ever so famouse Cheech and Chong.

lol, those are good ideas, i like the idea of an iconic hippie... gotta call it by first and last name i like jimi hendrix thats cute.... still want to explore different jungle names tho.... so far hippie and jimi hendrix are on the maybe list... im more of an exotic name fan when i get expensive pets lol... but im taking a liking to those manes

I have always wanted a jacksons chameleon.. the have them at petco next to where I drill at for 80 bucks, how much was that veiled? Or does anyone know if that is a good price?

80 is fair... jacksons are typically more expensive than veileds. veiled chameleons where i live go for $89-99 for about a 3" baby.

i got an amazing deal. i paid $350 for the whole entire set up including him on craigslist. the lady said the cage and lighting alone were worth $600 which i believe, cause everything is well made and nice looking. his cage is 5'x3'x2' with vines and big potted plants. he also came with a 10gal feeder tank with crickets and super worms and wax worms... hes set for a while... ill post a pic of his cage sometime its really nice... i have the CUTEST pic of my kitties sitting infront of the cage looking at the crickets... i dont think they have even realized there is a big 20" lizard that lives with their new little creepy crawly frineds' haha

EDIT: btw, jacksons are way more sensitive than veileds. if you are wanting a chameleon, i would highly reccomend a veiled, they are much more hardy. this one can be taken out to the petstore without a problem... which isnt normal for them, they are kind of home-bodies, but if you socialize them early enough they can be happy going out once in a while, just not too often as they will need their lights humidity and heat most of the time.... if you do decide you want one, make sure to do the research first. make sure you know what you are getting into. they are quite a bit of work with misting twice a day, cage cleaning, dusting their food... not to mention the electric bills that will spike a bit due to having so many lights and such. i personally have 5 lights! 2 heat lamps and 3 full spectrums so that he is completely surrounded by the lights that help him absorb nutrients. if you decide to get one, POST PIX! look on craigslist... thats where i got mine, i cant even fathom the cost of starting a new chameleon set up! eesh!... one good thing tho, at least you dont have to cycle the cage XD hahaha, we all kno how much cycling sucks!

WOW he is a bright one in the last pic. I have owned everything I think I have wanted at least once except for a chameleon. It will be a while b4 im in the situation to get one but I still have my old iguana's cage that would work really well (with some modification) when i decide to get one so i wont have to start from fresh thank goodness.

That is a nice, fat chameleon. And a proper sized cage... you NEVER see that. People think because they're slow moving they don't need space, but they really and truly do - as you know, they need both fresh, clean air, high temperatures, and proper humidity - it's really impossible to get it quite right in anything small.

As a little child, I always wanted to get a hat with a stick coming off one side and over my shoulder to the left, so I could keep one on it when I went about town. Unfortunately, I'm not comfortable in any climate where such a thing would even be possible given their need for light, heat and moisture.
