Hey all,

I am not an expert on Canister filters at all, but since I have lower my water level, and I am only using it, I would like to put some carbon in it?.
What kind is the best for my situation?. its a classic 2217.

Actually, none. Carbon is pretty much useless in filtration except to remove medications and other unwanted chemicals. Even then it's availability depends on what you are trying to remove and how quickly it saturates the carbon.

So what about ordor and waste, does the 30% change I do a week really take care of all that?, I havn't been running the carbon for a day now, and I can already smell the differnce in the water? I cant have even a slight ordor in my house or my wife will freak, and I can't be doing WCs every other day either.

None of my 8 tanks have any odor at all. You are welcome to use carbon but I never do.

Well I went out to pick up some Carbon and they didnt have any, So I decided to look around the LFS a bit, I saw they had 2 Ghost shrimp, i sat and watched them for a bit, they were to cool, So I bought them, thinking I would give them to samson as a treat, well being the softie I am, I couldn't do it LOL! so they
are in with my DSP, if they get eaten by her, I will have to be okay with it LOL! I also bought a Mystery snail, i have always wanted one, and I grab 5 feeder mini's for my duaghters Oscars, I put 3 in with them, They were scare at first, but then they destoryed them.

I then put 2 in with samson, i thought he would totally destory them, NOPE, hes hiding from them, LOL! hes stuck in the corner and won't move LOL!
Is this normal for a puffer? I guess worst case he'll have a couple buddies LOL!

Yeah just as a test run, if they liked them, I was concidering getting a smaller tank and breeding some, The Oscars loved them, but it appears that samson
does not, So I might breed some guppies for the Oscars, Samson doesn't seem interested in live food at all. Which kinda goes agaist everything I have read about them?.

EDIT: I just pulled them out of his tank and put them in for the Oscars, LOL! they barly hit the water and they wer eaten LOL!

so Samson has his tank all to himself again

Fahakas don't eat other fish so I don't know why you would be surprised that he didn't eat them up. Oscars do which is why they gobbled them up.

Keep a close eye on them all though as you've now possibly exposed both tanks to disease and parasites.

I Hand picked them myself, but yes I will keep a good eye on all of them.

Well I guess no more feeders for the Oscars, can I breed my own and feed them?

Still contain thiaminase. He should be perfectly happy eating cichlid pellets.

Okay, so what about Blood worms? she has been giving them as a treat?.

Sure but an $$$ treat... Better off with earthworms--more filling.

its my daughters $$ so if she wants to feed them BWs up to her, I just wanted to make sure its alright to do it
