hey.

Got this little guy (about 12mm) from LFS today and am having trouble identifying Him/Her as it was sold to me as "freshwater puffer".I have been at it all day to no avail, so decided to join this site to get some help off the puffer experts

A Chelonodon. C. patoca or C. laticeps. No freshwater puffer I fear.

thx mate makes sense sincc LFS owner claimed it was native but not much more was said. ill switch it to my brackish tank with the archers and scats.

I now belive it to be C. patoca (milk spotted puffer) i should have said before. so will go in native brackish tank

Sounds good mate. Beware that some specimens become fin nippers when older.

Id say it is C. Patoca as well

we only get those 2 natives in Aus in the trade (both brackish).. that Ive seen anyways....

had both in one tank and the Milk Spotted was super agro.. the banded had bite marks .. had to split em'...!

how did the C patoca go with your natives?

thinking of mixing some toad fishes with my archers.. dont know if its a good idea

wow this is a pretty cool looking Puffer. I wish I could come across some different Puffers besides the normal F8s,GSPs,SAPs and DPs. That's about all I can get in New England at a LFS.

Looks a bit overfed.

Its funny how I would love to be in your postion and have the option of getting F8s,GSPs,SAPs and DPs

Yep. Availability certainly does differ around the world. It seems that those in the UK have it best.
