Mudskipper Flashing/Rolling

Hello. I have had 3 Indian mudskippers with some mollies in a cycled 35 gallon. So far everything has been going smoothly but today, along with my shipment tragedy (RIP $100 worth of fish) one of the skippers is flashing. He is out on land when he does this and I have only seen him do it on this one piece of cork bark. Makes no sense. Do they do this a lot or does he have parasites/some other form of irritation. Is he just wierd? He is still acting like the same aggressive alpha fish he was when I got him just every now and then he flashes. Any ideas?

Sounds like parasites to me but i know nothing about mudskippers. Try adding Melafix to the tank to sooth his skin.

I used to have mudskippers never saw them roll whilst on water
... but when they were on land they would roll on the side and then turn right over... I read somewhere that they do it to keep their body moist

They do it in the wild to keep moist but make sure that he isn't injured just to be sure.
I'm only assuming here but I'd guess that you don't have a sand bank for the skippies to get in and out of the water easily? He probably stays out of the water as much as possible because the depth of water and the presence of fairly large fish intimidate him.
Do you mean that he flashes his dorsal fin as well? If so then that is to display his dominance to any rivals.

Id agree
in a local petshop they had puffers and mudskipper mixed together
but the mudskippers never touches the water... and you could tell why
they almost had no tail fins left..
and it was just one of those turtle floats ... that doesnt retain water.
anyways.. I agree that if theres fishes in the water.. they will stay away from it
