Ok, I've been oogling a jew cichlid at work. He is the most beautiful specimin I have ever seen, clearish strawberry red with neon blue spots. He is only about 1.5 inches long too! I have him on hold, but I don't know of any where to put him after some Q/T time. Only tank I can think of is with my dwarf and clown pleco in their spacious 30 long. The tank is heavily planted, and has drift wood etc. Just wanted to know if a pair of jewels or a single male would be fine with a dwarf.

IME, juvenile Jewels are not bad; but once sexual maturity hits they are species only for me, or solitary in adjacent tanks until ready to breed. They are well named, aren't they?

Very well named. So would you think the jewel would be fine with the puff for a while?

Until it starts developing hormones - either gender. Do watch that there is no food competition.

Theres noe problem there. The cichlid only eats spectrum pellets and barly goes for live food. The puff only goes for live food, lol.
