over protective lionfish

Just curious if anyone knows anything about general freshwater lionfish (or toad fish) behavior.. My GSP (who is very small!) lives with one and they get along great. However, I bought a new puffer and the lionfish doesn't seem to like him that much and attacked him. All fish are ok, but has anyone else had possessive fish like this before?
I heard that lionfish become 'emotionally attached' to their tank mates and will lash out if they feel their tank mate is being threatened by a newcomer.

Is that just totally crazy?

Here is a funny video with an example of what your talking about, but a little less violent I think. It's pretty funny though.

LOL! that was hilarious. And yes, waaay less violent than what happened earlier today. My new puffer, Patches, was halfway in the mouth of the lion. It was.. unusual.. Luckily, he's okay.
