question about eating

hi everyone,
i have a good question. can a puffer get food poisoning, or stomach problems? i think my fahaka ate a piece of decaying krill that was hidden under some rocks till i moved them. he is very dark and looks pissed
should i try to feed him or not. i will do a h20 change of course, but any info on this would be of great help. thanks.
ammonia still 0
nitrites still 0
nitrates 5-10

One thing you'll find with puffers is that they are very picky eaters.If they don't want to eat something then they won't.That is especially true with 'old' decaying or rotten food. They can tell a lot better than I can if the food is good.Was this simple a piece that you missed? How often are your water changes?

yeah it was just a peice i missed during a water change. it moved under some rocks and it was there for a week maybe. i took it out right after i saw it. the thing is, i dont want to move around all the aquascaping everytime i do a change, guess ill have to look out more carefully.
btw. my water changes are every week. should i do more than that?
also, he is in a 55gal. long, i know i will move him soon.

Judging by the water parameters you posted, it looks like you are doing OK with weekly water changes and do not need to increase the frequency or quantity right now. Keep and eye on the numbers though. Nitrates will increase quicker as your puffer grows and begins to add more bio load to the tank.

It is necessary to move around your decor during every water change, cleaning under it.

you will see a huge difference when you move the decor i know i did
