I need to be certain what this puffer is, can anyone identify it? I know it's one of the target species, and I have a guess, but I want to hear what others have to say first. Oh, and I know it's got whitespot, that's not the issue, I need to make sure of what it is.

Wow, dunno what type of puff it is but it's either got strange target coloring or is really not happy/well.

Mind you, if it's spots stay that blueish color when it's healthy/happy that'd be really cool!

Yeah that was my thoughts too .... and indeed it is a sad looking one. There's virtually no tail! But the only reason I wasn't sure is because someone on here, was it Sean, said that turgidus spots are not much different in terms of size from the other spots, and the spot on this puffer is definitely bigger. The eyes are right large too and my turgidus doesn't look like that.

Eyespot is always larger in this species than the other spots.

The little guy in the pic looks exactly like my Frankie, (who we're fairly sure is a turgidus) only Frankie is fatter and always smiling

Well unfortunately this puffer is being sold as a M leiurus puffer, but as soon as they sent me a photo of it, I didn't think that's what it was, but wanted confirmation before I tell the guy I'm not interested.

Yes, hence my reason for wanting to buy this puffer, of course until I found out that it's not what they are selling it for. The thing is, I bet they don't change the name of it, and someone else will buy it thinking they've got a rarity and only will find out later that it's not what they think it is. That's why I wanted to check first.

No M. leiurus... the snout is too short.

On larger M. turgidus the eyespot is not significantly larger than the other spots. I think this one fits the description quite well.
