just got some of the neon zebras and wondering if the 5 is enough

No, It is overstocked and inapprpropriate - not enough swimming room. These are extremely active schooling fish and should be kept in a 2 1/2 foot tank minimum, and in a group of six to eight. Six would do okay in a 20-long alone. Eight or more would do well in a 29..

A five is a tiny tank. most common LFS fish will not do well in such a small tank. If you cannot up grade the tank, consider trading the Danios in for a Betta, One male can live in a 5. They are not large mass nor very fast swimmers.

I agree, a betta would be trilled to have a nice, 5g tank! They're pretty & interactive.

I just recently tried putting my betta in an empty 20 gal I had still running, he didn't seem as happy as his 2 Gal, So I put him back in his 2 Gal, and he has brightin up again, and is very active again, in the 20 all he did was hung out under the filter, I guess he didn't like the current?

The smallest tank I've kept a betta in was 10gal and they've all enjoyed it. I've even kept them in a 20gal.

A bit off topic, lol, but I kept a betta in my 100 gallon tank for months before he became lunch for my Arowana. He LOVED it in there, lol.

Generally people say betta is what can only go in 5 or smaller, maybe get away with a few guppies

I love those little glo fish...I have had some for years..I am now down to one..and boy the one that is left is soooo sad. I have to buy him some new friends this weekend..

RTR is right...these fish never stop moving...they play and play with each other all day long...I have never walked by their tank and seen them sitting still...

You need a bigger tank...not because they need more depth, but because they need width..mine nearly always skim around the top..only occasionally going down while playing tag...that is all they do..play tag with each other!

If you think they are fun now...wait till you get them in a bigger tank!
