New Puffer - which one??

So since puffy (large stars abd stripes) died the tank has been going fallow to allow the ich to go but obviously ive been travelling the LFS to see what to have next . I have a moon/lunare wrasse that will be going back in (3") and a maroon clown that im getting off my friend so what puffer choices have i got?
I think my fav is a stars and stripes , but the jewel puffers and stunning but just not got the "round chubby" look or the ones ive seen havnt,

and my husband wants a Red starfish - would a puffer eat this? (the one he likes is a bigish star)

The next puffer i get will be a small one/baby.

also i have some crabs/snails (the snails were bought as a temp cuc and puffer treat if he wanted them - but my last one wouldnt eat snails?)

and i will most def QUARENTINE my next Puffy

Probably eat the starfish. Did your puffer die of ich? I have a S & S in qt with ich right now is why i ask. What method did you try to rid it?

yes died of ich :(

he was a stars and stripes and rather large , we did the hyrosalinity and after a week he looked almost good as new :) and started eating his usual 3 prawns a day again the night b4 he died he was back squirting at us and happy, then the next day i came down stairs and he was floating :( :(

I think he might have got a secondary infection, then about 6 hours after he died my trigger (who was in the QT with him) ulcerated and was swollen , so hubby choose to PTS he was in pain, im not sure if he got an infection or if the puffer realeased toxins?

Puffers do not "release" toxins.

You're thinking of Boxfish and Cowfish, which release ostracitoxin if threatened (though this is extremely uncommon in the aquarium setting). Marine puffers have tetrodotoxin, which resides within their bodies. The only way for this toxin to be transferred to another is if the puffer were to be eaten.
