Hi All,

After a weekend of surching for the best puffer i finaly found him, a tiny Topaz puffer, he's about 20cm. I chose him as there were about 20 in a tank at the LFS and he was attacking and nipping all the rest and swimming round like he owned the tank.

As soon as i let him free in the tank he had a good swim round and follows me like i have known him for years, loves his food, gave him some bolld worm and half a prawn although i removed most of the prawn as he was getting so fat i thought he would pop.

Until he's a bit bigger should i stick to the worm/prawn or start giving him things in a shell. He's fresh water too

20cm? hardly tiny. That sounds like a full grown Ceylon

Size dependant on conditions etc, but upto 8".
Definitely need to be feeding him snails or molluscs of some kind from day one.
& we await pics!

i did start a small snail tank with some rams horns to start feeding him on but brought a apple snail who has started eating them, are there any snails the apple snail wont eat which are easy to breed

Congrats on your new puffer! If you read that link to the PP, he definitely isn't FW. Moving this to the BW forum.
