hi everyone,
i'm thinking of keeping a few dp and was wondering what size tank i would need, i would like to keep about 4

As I understood, it is 5gallons for the first one, then 3 gallons for each additional one. But, the bigger the better (obviously).

Do you want your fish to survive, or to thrive? If you always go for minimum tank space and water volume, the fish will survive. I want better than that, I want them to thrive, so i rarely use minimum volumes, tank space, and never long-term.
I was going to suggest a 29, but if you go 30-long, it would be better.
I did keep 5 males in a 29, but that was not intended to be permanent. They were up for adoption and got new homes.

well ive bought a jewel 63 litre tank about 16 us gallons so i was thinking maybe one male and two females would that be ok, i've sold my comunity tank but there's one fish i'd like to keep it's a bristlenose has anyone ever kept one with dp

I originally started out with four in my 25g. The last four survivors from a stock of 11 ordered, actually. Unfortunately, two of them died (within the first few weeks), but the other two are doing absolutely wonderful! The more space, the better.

A general rule for DPs is 5g for the first, and 3g for every DP after. A 16g tank should suffice nicely. (:
