Hi All,

I was wondering if anyone has put Nerite snails in their puffer tank. I was told they will live and breed in brackish water and that they are amazing algae eaters.
If you have put them with puffers will they eat them?

I have no clue, but I'm picking up another batch of Nerites this weekend, and I may just try it and find out.

I have bought them from the produce store (alive) & put them in my larger puffer's tanks. They can't crush the shells, but I found all of them empty the next day.

That is not promising... :(

So the shells are too hard for them to crush? That's unfortunate. I was hoping they would be a good double duty addition to the tank. Clean a bit, breed and provide some yummy snail treats that would be good for the teeth.
Can you keep Ramshorns in the tank with a puffer long enough for them to breed or do they have to stay separate. My LFS said they would die in brackish and at $0.99 a mini snail I am not planning a buy as they eat method.

Nerites are not easily bred, no reproduction in normal tanks.

Ramshorns will not survive long enough with puffers to breed. Separate breeding tanks are in order.
